It was noted today on Air America that the White House was built with black slave labor. Took 200 years, but a black man is now, finally, to be a resident of that symbol of freedom.

@NDM - well one motivation is clearly ego, other motivations may be a desire to shape this world to their own vision. the difference i see among most politicians today is whether they have a righteous vision or a completely self serving vision. most are self serving with very few having righteous visions to make this world better for all. maybe if people didn't actually campaign for public office and if everybody knew their leaders personally, than our society would run very differently.
With great power comes great responsibility; every blessing is also a curse. =)
ryc: Sorry for the late reply. I've tried Taekwondo, Kumdo, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, but never really stuck with any of them. I'm pretty sure I don't suffer from a scarity mentality when it comes to materialistic goods, but in terms of opportunities and such, I found myself nodding in agreement a lot, haha.
